Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site. 

The home of poet Carl Sandburg and his family, this site is located on 264 acres that includes 5-miles of hiking trails, a dairy goat farm, and offers daily tours of the Sandburg Home should you choose. (find out more)

Sky Top Orchard. 

A pick-your-own apple orchard offering family-fun activities including hayrides, farm animal viewing and feeding, Sky Top is open 7 days a week beginning in early August and operates through the first Sunday after Thanksgiving. (find out more)

Pulliam Creek Trailhead. 

Pulliam Creek Trail is a 5.7 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail that features a beautiful river perfect for moderate paddlers. The trail itself is primarily used for hiking, walking, running, and nature trips and is best used from March until October. For dog lovers, dogs are also able to use this trail! (find out more)

Here are some ideas for fun outdoor activities near Lakeshore our tiny house community in the heart of central Florida.

Back Road Berries. 

Back Road Berries is a family-owned and operated you-pick berry farm.  BRB grows three types of berries: strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries.  Strawberry harvesting begins in December and continues into March.  Blueberry picking begins in April and ends in May.  Thorn-less Blackberries ripen the latter part of May and are ready to pick through June. Lake Okahumpka Park & Boat Ramp. 

This 130 acre park feature so many options! Some example are a 1+ mile paved bike/fitness trail, a boat ramp, grills, horseshoe pits, and so much more. It is a great place to spend time just breathing in the fresh air. Canoes can also be rented at Lake Okahumpka Park. (find out more)

Cane Garden Country Club. 

For those who enjoy their outdoor activities on the fairway, Cane Garden Country Club is one of Florida’s most naturally beautiful courses where the pursuit of “Birdies” is equal to the time one might spend “Bird” watching. The club offers 27 holes for play and features a magnificent hillside clubhouse surrounded by oak hammocks. The course plays around a 140-acre eagle preserve! (find out more)
